Crime Victims' Assistance
Everything that is done in this world is done by hope. - Martin Luther
What We Do
This shared-service Victim Assistance Program serves the cities of North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Haltom City, and Watauga, Texas. Established in 2009, the program has played a central role in the region’s leadership in developing effective, sustainable, law enforcement–based victim services. Its mission is to ensure that victims’ rights are upheld; to provide comprehensive services to victims of crime, witnesses, and survivors of violent and person-related offenses; and to mitigate the psychological and emotional trauma resulting from criminal victimization. The program is committed to treating all victims and witnesses with fairness, dignity, and compassion.
Since its inception, the program has been supported through Victims of Crime Assistance (VOCA) grant funding, which has funded personnel costs. Victim Assistance staff are nationally accredited through the National Organization for Victim Advocacy (NOVA) and have completed extensive trauma-informed training. Staff members are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provide on-scene assistance at the request of responding officers. They also collaborate closely with detectives throughout the investigative process to ensure victims receive timely information and support.
The program assists victims and survivors of a wide range of crimes, including assault, burglary of a habitation, child abuse, child sexual assault, DWI, elder abuse, family violence, hit-and-run incidents, homicide, human trafficking, kidnapping, robbery, sexual assault, and stalking.
